I have been making websites since I was a teenager. I taught myself HTML and literally coded my entire first website on Geocities with the text editor. In college I made a website in Front Page before using Dreamweaver, which is now my application of choice. My Bachelor degree is in Computer Science. As such, I learned to program – primarily in C, but also a little Java. I also have a Computer Information Systems emphasis as part of my MBA. To earn this, I took courses on systems development, databases, and web development. Using books and web resources I taught myself JavaScript, PHP, MySQL and CSS as an adult.
I personally find developing for the web to be the most practical use of my programming skills. I’m confident that the cloud is the future of software. It’s also amongst the easiest to deploy because everyone has a browser. While I am comfortable with my C# and Visual Studio skills, I am not a fan a ASP.net. I prefer to develop in PHP – largely because it is free, has a large user community, and integrates so nicely with MySQL.
This section of my website describes my web projects. I am available to develop web applications. Use the Contact link above if you would like me to work on a project. However, if you want me to create an informational website, please visit Larsens Place. I have just recently started working with the Larsen family to help them with their web projects. My role is primarily to program functionality with PHP and JavaScript, but given this new partnership, I don’t want to take away from our joint efforts.
